'Šija' means the 'neck' in a local (old) dialect of the Bohinj area. It is the name of the 1880 m high mountain situated on the southern edge of the Vogel plateau.

The peak offers a magnificent panorama of the Julian Alps, with a direct view towards Mount Triglav and the Bohinj basin below. It is a popular destination for hikers in the summer and a key part of the high-altitude ski slopes in the winter. Access is made easy by the cable car from Lake Bohinj, followed by a scenic walk across the plateau.
