Shaft tower from 1888 above the mine shaft Škale in Velenje. The building is a rare and well-preserved technical monument which has been running continuously since its erection over 130 years ago.

The former main entrance shaft into the mine is today the entrance into the subterranean part of the Coal Mining Museum of Slovenia. This iconic structure stands as a testament to the industrial heritage of the Šalek Valley, connecting the surface with the tunnels 178 meters below.

The steel construction and the engine room represent the peak of 19th-century engineering. Today, it serves as the starting point for visitors who wish to explore the underground life of Velenje's miners.
